Steve Rubel writes this morning about how Edelman and NewsGator will build both branded communities and what he calls "dynamic conversational advertising." That second concept seems very close to the "Can We Talk?" concept Tom Troja from Pajamas Media and I have been working on together for several months. I guess we've both realized that if one is to use advertising at all to promote conversational intiatives, the ads themselves should be two-way. Various iterations of our version allow for commenting right from the ads themselves. A big part of the problem with advertising these days is that people who see it often assume it's a broadcast message, but if the ad offers functionality that allows people to get involved in a conversation, we can change that expectation and help make ads exciting again.
My sister upgraded and is now selling her 2004 Hyundai Accent (17K miles). It's a 2-door hatchback and would be a perfect station car or cheap transportation option for someone jetting around NYC. She needs to get $8,000 out of the deal. I've driven the car on occasion and it gets fantastic gas mileage. E-mail me if you're interested - tom at hespos dot com.
Our client, Wayne Auto Spa, today had an article published in the Star-Ledger about the controversy surrounding their desire to place a wind turbine on their property. I'm hoping Rob Burke and the mayor are able to come to some sort of compromise that will let Rob continue to move forward with his mission to further the use of clean, renewable energy. It's the reason why many of his customers come to Wayne Auto Spa, and it also serves as a model for how other companies can take steps to reduce their environmental impact. Keep plugging away, Rob! You're doing a great job.
