Edelman and NewsGator Putting RSS Feeds in Ads

Steve Rubel writes this morning about how Edelman and NewsGator will build both branded communities and what he calls "dynamic conversational advertising."  That second concept seems very close to the "Can We Talk?" concept Tom Troja from Pajamas Media and I have been working on together for several months. I guess we've both realized that if one is to use advertising at all to promote conversational intiatives, the ads themselves should be two-way.  Various iterations of our version allow for commenting right from the ads themselves.  A big part of the problem with advertising these days is that people who see it often assume it's a broadcast message, but if the ad offers functionality that allows people to get involved in a conversation, we can change that expectation and help make ads exciting again.
