Saturday's Take
/My second-ever metal detecting trip was kinda cool. I swept the beach for almost two hours, finding lots of bottlecaps and trash. I used one of the metal detector's filters to filter out the tones for iron and trash metal, but sometimes the magnetic signatures for things like bottlecaps and pull tabs can get confused with gold or silver. I guess.
A couple hours into it, I found that my detector's sensitivity setting was too low, so I cranked it up a bit and started finding coins. Regrettably, I had to be back at the house by 9AM, so I had only enough time to find about 45 cents' worth of change. (1 quarter and 4 nickels.)
Next time I go out, I'll have a better idea of the ideal settings for the detector, so maybe I'll find more change or some jewelry or something.
